Settings

Theme, text sizes, source view, updates, and editor preferences — all saved on this device.

Open Settings from the top bar. Every choice applies at once and stays saved on this device; nothing follows your project or your account.

Appearance

Theme: Follow system, Dark, Light, or Blueprint. New installs default to Blueprint; a saved choice always wins, and “Follow system” tracks your OS live.

Text size

  • UI text — the interface scale, 80% to 160%.
  • Source code — the code size, 11px to 22px (drives the source view's font and line height).
  • Tree and map labels — rescales map node text, connection labels, and file-tree rows, then re-lays out the graph.

Each control steps, resets to its default, and disables at its limits.

Source view

The word wrap shortcut (default Alt + Z) toggles wrapping while the source view has focus. Click the recorder and press a new chord — Ctrl, Alt, or Meta plus a letter or digit, or an F-key alone — or turn the shortcut off. See Keyboard shortcuts.

Updates

Automatically check for updates is on by default. Check now reports beside the button (“Checking…”, “Lightwell is up to date.”, “Version … is available.”, or the failure). Desktop builds offer in-app install for signed updates on macOS, Windows, and the Linux AppImage; manual packages link to the release instead. Update checks run in the desktop app, not the web preview.

Editor (desktop)

The editor command template opens files from the source view. Use {file}, {line}, and {column}; pick a preset to fill it in, edit freely, and Save. Blank means the OS default app (falling back to VISUAL, then EDITOR). Lightwell passes arguments directly, with no shell.
