Getting started

Open a folder, watch the map draw itself, and learn to read it.

Open a project

  1. Launch Lightwell and choose Open workspace.
  2. Pick the root folder of a Rust, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Go, C#, or VB.NET project.
  3. Lightwell reads the project marker (Cargo.toml, package.json, go.mod, a solution or project file, and similar), extracts the structure, and draws the map. Nothing is written into your project except the optional notes file.

Read the map

  • Blocks are workspaces, crates or packages, modules, files, and symbols. Bigger containers hold smaller ones.
  • Lines are dependencies: imports, project references, and resolved type use.
  • Modules / Files (top bar and tree toolbar) switches between the block graph and the file tree. The choice is saved per workspace.
  • Depth limits how many levels below the current scope the map draws. It starts at 2; raise it to see deeper, or choose All.
  • Click a block to select it. The side panel shows its details, members, and connections; Open shows its source (see Files & inspector).
  • Use the search field (Ctrl/Cmd + K) to jump to a block by name.

Make it yours

The map is live: edit code and the watcher redraws the affected blocks. Set your theme and text sizes in Settings, and pin what you learn with project notes.
